The Bédarrides water tower

The city of Bédarrides experiencing water supply problems, the water tower was built in the 19th century, following the discovery of a powerful spring in the Souvine district.

At the time, the city already used springs to supply residents with water, but following work, including the establishment of a railway line, this transport was becoming more and more difficult.

 

It was then that on May 23, 1858, a man of art announced the existence of a powerful spring, located in the Souvine district.

The city therefore decided to create a public fountain and a water tower by capturing this source. From 1860, the project became more and more concrete: this is how on August 1, 1864, the report of reception of the water tower was signed and, at the same time, 5 fountains were built.
