The school

Discover the history of the elementary school in the charming provençal village of Althen-des-Paluds, which was opened in 1885 and is still active nowadays.

Until 1885, the village did not have a school. The courses are given in houses rented in the various districts of the village for the occasion. From 1871 to 1873, a first project provided for the creation of a boys' school (former church) and a girls' school (near the new church). It will remain a dead letter.

In 1881, a new project emerged. It consists of creating a school group welcoming boys and girls (this is the current elementary school building). Construction work was completed in 1884.

A new lease of life for portals

The grills, painted in green and red, needed a good repair, which will be carried out in 2022. The grills then regained their rusty color and then changed to their traditional green and red color. The posts were made by the Althénoise company Marbrerie Jeannot, and the installation by technical services agents. The company Chivallier Peinture was able to perfectly find the original colors of the grills.
