One of the symbols of the village
This bridge, dear to the hearts of the people of Althénes who came to dance there until the Second World War, was built in 1845 and bears the name of a family of large local landowners. You can still see what was one of their factories, in Entraigues, very close to the Avignon-Carpentras railway and the Sorgue d'Entraigues. In 1877, the Naquets made significant profits from the cultivation of mint and owned a distillery in Monteux.
The very young municipality of Althen had to partially and somewhat reluctantly finance its reconstruction: thus, in response to a claim for compensation filed by the builder for its reconstruction on September 30, 1861, the municipal council initially satisfied itself with asking for 'more information on the work done'.
This bridge, whose two arches rest on a rounded central pier similar to that of the Trévouse bridge, evokes both robustness through its construction, and harmony through the softness of its forms.
The bridge is now a popular fishing and walking area in the area!
