Top tips for walking and hiking in Vaucluse
Sunny in both winter and summer, Vaucluse is an ideal destination for scenic walks and hikes throughout the year. To ensure a worry-free outing, we’ve put together some key tips to keep in mind when planning a hike in the Luberon, around Avignon, on Mont Ventoux, or along the Rhône Valley. This checklist is useful though not exhaustive, and the rest is a matter of common sense. Click here to discover these tips!
Hikes in the heart of the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park
Starting from Pernes-les-Fontaines, set out to explore the Vaucluse Mountains and Mont Ventoux thanks to numerous marked hiking trails through unspoiled nature. These paths will allow you to discover the local wildlife and flora, explore the town’s surroundings, and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Mont Ventoux summit!
These three routes of 5, 10, and 14 km are accessible to everyone – whether you wish to take a peaceful walk along the Carpentras Canal or are a passionate and experienced hiker. In any case, you will follow beautiful trails through forests, plains, and vineyards of the Vaucluse.
Hikes along the river and in the Rhône Valley
Just a few kilometers from Avignon and close to the town center of Sorgues, a lovely walk awaits you along the Rhône on the Île de l’Oiselay. This little-known haven of peace is accessible to all and is the perfect spot to observe local wildlife (herons, swans, and more) or simply enjoy a picnic by the water.
In Bédarrides, there is also a flat, well-marked trail along the Sorgue River, just steps from the town’s historic center – ideal for a family outing!
