In the 17th century, this house housed the Chapel of the Penitents. A Brotherhood of White Penitents was founded in Bédarrides in 1622.
In conflict with the Minims Priors of the place, the Penitents appealed to Pope Urban VIII in 1624, who granted them a perpetual indulgence that included:
• The right to hold an annual procession.
• To display the Blessed Sacrament in this chapel for Easter.
