Located at the meeting of economic, tourist and cultural sites, Sorgues is an industrial and modern city.
The presence of the Avignon's papacy in the 14th century contributed to the development of the city and handed down to its fabulous heritage. Vestige of this past are still visible nowadays.
As a green city, Sorgues has green spaces, invites us to discover nature, such as the Ile de l'Oiselay, (Natura 2000 network) which contains exceptional fauna and flora.
Cultural city, Sorgues saw in 2010 the opening of the Camille Claudel Cultural Center, which collects together a media library, music and dance schools, socio-educational workshops, the Municipal Youth Reception (AmDJ), theater and exhibition hall.
THE MAIN MONUMENTS:
♦ L'église du Plan de la Tour called the Church of the Transfiguration (18th century): containing an imposing canvas of Christ in glory.
♦ L'Église Saint Sixte (11th century): Romanesque style (apse listed historical monument)
♦ Le Château Saint-Hubert: representative of the architecture in Comtat Venaissin in the 18th century.
♦ Les six roues à aubes
♦ Le jardin du Château de Brantes (1700), certified « Jardin remarquable ».
