Mont Ventoux

The highest summit in Vaucluse, Mont Ventoux is a paradise for athletes with a multitude of outdoor activities in an exceptional Regional Natural Park.

Access to Mont Ventoux and its summit

The Mont Ventoux Summit is accessible at a certain time of the year, generally from mid-April (mid-May for access from the north side) to mid-November.

You can take 3 different roads to reach the summit. On the south side via the villages of Sault or Bédoin and by the north side via Malaucène, these 3 roads all meet at the highest point of the Giant of Provence!

Due to heavy traffic at certain times of the year, we advise you to consult the Affluence site to find out the occupancy rate of the car parks at the top: https://affluences.com/sommet-mont-ventoux?lang=fr

Mont Serein and Chalet Reynard

Throughout the year, even during the period when the summit of Mont Ventoux is closed, the Mont Serein and Chalet Reynard outdoor activities centre are accessible. It is possible to reach the first one via the Malaucène road and the second via Sault and/or Bédoin.

Mount Serein

Regardless of the season, Mont Serein offers numerous leisure activities. In winter, when the weather permits, it is possible to ski (downhill skiing, snowboarding), have fun sledding, and even go snowshoeing. A small family ski resort that will delight young and the not so young.

In summer, a multitude of activities are available such as electric scooter rides, bike rides or horseback riding. For a rush of sensations, there is also an acrobranch course as well as a devalkart track and snow turbing!

On site, you will also find several places to eat to enjoy a good meal or simply to relax for a few moments on the terrace with the added bonus of a superb view of the surroundings.

In summer, many events take place on site such as astronomy sessions to observe the stars a few steps from the summit of Mont Ventoux.

The Reynard Chalet

This chalet is at an altitude of more than 1400m, the Chalet Reynard is an authentic restaurant offering good quality cuisine with only local products.

The “Ventoux Sud” ski resort of Chalet Reynard is equipped with ski lifts for skiing in winter as well as a sled run. In summer, many possibilities are available to you, mountain biking tours, walks, hikes and many others.

An exceptional natural space

We owe the richness of the biodiversity of the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park thanks to the variation of climatic conditions that change according to the seasons and which allow the local fauna and flora to develop in a remarkable way.

Thus, on just over 3000 hectares, we can count on up to 150 different species of birds, 1500 plant species, numerous animals and insects such as the "Nivéole de Fabre", a plant species endemic to the Mont Ventoux that is part of this fragile ecosystem that must be preserved.

Mont Ventoux, a Biosphere Reserve classified by the U.N.E.S.C.O. is also classified as a Natura 2000 site.

Biking up Mont Ventoux

Climbing up the Giant of Provence by bike is not without risk and cannot be improvised. To reach the top, it is best to follow the advice of the Departmental Council: click here for discover! You can also choose the itinerary according to your level.

In general, the "least" difficult route to climb Mont Ventoux is by Sault but it is however the longest. The most arduous route is by the Bédoin road, which has become symbolic thanks to the Tour de France. As far as possible, pick routes departing from Sault and Malaucène, Bédoin being the most visited route (50% of traffic). Be careful. Book 'Autrement Ventroux'

A refined book full of poetry, as Carole and Stéphane like to give away. A common desire for words and images to be in unison. A photographic look full of sensitivity and wonder around two key seasons that words highlight with force.

Book 'Profession shepherd in the Pays du Ventroux'

Throughout the seasons, François Vachet's images transport us into the daily life of a shepherd from the Ventoux region. Traditional shepherd: an ancestral profession that can only be carried out at the cost of an unlimited passion, of a perfect communion with nature and its elements. A beautiful mission, often rewarded by the simple happiness it offers in return to these men who have managed to maintain an original authenticity, as if led by the same star.
