La première construction de La Fontaine des Dauphins ou ancienne Fontaine Neuve remonte au XVIe siècle et est certainement la plus ancienne de la ville. Elle fut reconstruite vers 1773 et est adossée à la Chapelle des Pénitents Noirs.
Elle était réservée pour l’abreuvage des bestiaux vers les années 1760.
Elle comprend deux sorties d'eau, deux têtes de dauphins, dont les queues s'entrelacent. Dans le passée, cette fontaine fournissait en eau une grande partie de la commune.
De style baroque, il ne reste que quelques éléments des têtes de dauphins et elle est l’une des dernières fontaines de ce type dans la région.
