A city rich in history
Sorgues has a rich history and an exceptional heritage, including the passage of the Pope who built the Papal Palace and its gardens in the historic center, the remains of which can now be observed.
Later, the city would also become famous for its industrial success thanks to the paddle wheels that were used for the silkworm farming, for stationery and its factories for treading fabrics. As you travel along the tourist tour you will discover the many paddle wheels that make it up as you go.
Sorgues has also inspired many artists such as Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque who settled here for a few years!
