5 ways to eat local

Consuming local is a trend that is gaining in popularity and for very good reasons, here are 5 ways to adopt this practice during your stay.

1. The markets of Provence

To shop and meet local producers, nothing could be easier: go to the various markets in Provence to discover the exceptional land of the region in Pernes-les-Fontaines, Monteux and Sorgues for the various markets and at Bédarrides in the summer season, you will certainly find very good products to eat on site or to cook. These are often harvested at maturity and sold quickly after harvest and are therefore fresher and retain their flavor.

Visiting markets also means eating in season. Seasonal products are not only tastier, but more respectful of the land and the environment. Thus, at different times of the year, you will be able to see asparagus, melon, strawberry or tomato stalls!

2. Directly from local producers

To support the local economy and consume regional products, all you have to do is go directly to producers who often offer direct sales from their farms. It is one of the best ways to make small and medium-sized businesses prosper and to ensure the traceability of products, grown or manufactured in ethical and environmentally friendly conditions.

Take advantage of this opportunity to discover the place, discuss with producers and learn more about their production methods and working conditions.

3. Regional events

To promote the work and know-how of artisans and producers, numerous events are organized throughout the year in order to promote local gastronomy. This is the case in particular with the truffle market in winter in Pernes-les-Fontaines or the melon festival, the honey and flavor market in summer as well as the Local Talent Market in the garden of the Pernes-les-Fontaines Tourist Office.

In Althen-des-Paluds, there is also the beer festival, which makes it a point of honor to welcome producers of Vauclusian beers such as La Déjantée in Pernes-les-Fontaines.

Within the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park, there is an event that extends throughout the year: The Terroir Festival around Ventoux, which organizes numerous events each month around a product: The Fig Festival in Caromb, the Feast of The cherry in Venasque and many others.

These events are surely among the best ways to discover the Provençal region in a pleasant setting and a festive atmosphere.

4. Explore the different labels

There are many national labels and brands, most of which are guarantees of quality and guarantee you an exceptional welcome and products.
