Thanks to the Museum of the Old School and the Museum of the Old School, dive into the past and (re) discover an old classroom as if you were there!
First, we take you to the Museum of the school of the past, located in the old building of the Monteux train station. The Museum has an incredible collection of antique objects and furniture that will immerse you right from the doorstep into the atmosphere of former classrooms. You will find old school bags, maps of France from the last century, desks and school benches from the time as well as old jars that were used to study history and natural sciences.
Regularly, writing workshops or pen dictations and mental calculations on a slate are organized and a treasure hunt in search of unusual objects is available at the Museum!
The Old School Museum is open by reservation only throughout the year or during events and activities.
To stay in the theme, we take you to Pernes-les-Fontaines and more precisely to the hamlet of Valayans, a few kilometers from the city. Located in the annex town hall, the Old School Museum takes you directly 40 years back in time to a former classroom. Everything has been designed to perfectly recreate the atmosphere and decor that the oldest people were able to experience. The museum also contains an impressive collection of period objects such as textbooks and notebooks for students and teachers, class photos and many others to (re) discover!
The Old School Museum is open every summer on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays and by reservation the rest of the year.
