Taking to the skies aboard a microlight helicopter is for sure the best way to contemplate our magnificent landscapes and one of the most famous places in Provence: Mont Ventoux
To obtain sublime aerial views, we met Nicolas, an Autogire microlight pilot at Fly Sorgue Ventoux in Pernes-les-Fontaines, who allowed us to fly over Mont Ventoux and its surroundings with viewpoints that we rarely have the opportunity to see.

We took off at around 11:30am at Edgar Soumil Aerodrome, after about fifteen minutes of explanations about how the device worked, the safety instructions to be respected, a check of our equipment, belts and microphones that would allow us to communicate in the air. A final engine check at the entrance to the runway before taking off, the excitement and apprehension surface but immediately disappear the aircraft in the air which only gives way to serenity and wonder, so here we go for more than an hour above the magnificent landscapes that make up the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park!
Before going around the Giant of Provence, our itinerary allowed us to fly over the plains of Comtat Venaissin and its villages such as Pernes-les-Fontaines, Venasque or even Méthamis.

After having been able to admire the details of the streets and monuments of these villages, we leave in the direction of Mont Ventoux, but just before, we decide to make a last detour, and not the least since we fly over the famous Gorges de la Nesque, an incredible sight at an altitude of more than 1400 meters!

Already with stars in our eyes, we are getting closer to Mont Ventoux which, we were lucky, was not hidden behind the clouds that day, and was beginning to wear its beautiful autumn colors!

By flying over sublime mixtures of orange colors through yellow and even purple, we very quickly reach the summit of Mont Chauve, the highest point in Provence, nothing higher on the horizon. In the microlight, this moment gives us a feeling of lightness, a feeling of being almost alone in the world while contemplating this summit so white and so steep on the north side, which is a face that is less well known. Nicolas, at the controls of the aircraft, takes the time to offer us exceptional views by offering us a complete tour of the summit and therefore a 360° view of the surroundings. Despite the cold, with a feeling of around 0°C in this season, we can't get enough of this breathtaking panorama!

We end our journey by flying over the Dentelles de Montmirail, a massif with such a particular topology, and we return to the starting point quite quickly. The landing was very smooth and here we are back on land, amazed by this flight and with lots of images in our heads and in the box! We had a unique experience and we can only recommend that you contact Nicolas to live a moment out of time, and so different from the usual tourist circuits to discover our landscapes in the best possible way.
