The Comtadin costume in the spotlight
Pernes-les-Fontaines, formerly the capital of Comtat Venaissin, has kept numerous remains of its past. Among them, the traditional Comtadin costume, a relic of the time.
The museum
The Comtadin Costume Museum, originally a draper store created in 1860, is an establishment that reopened its doors in 1992. Its purpose is to study, restore, highlight and promote the Comtadin costume of the time.
The association of the Conservatory of Costume Comtadin was created in 2005 by people who are passionate about Comtadine history, thanks to whom, the place comes to life. For more than 15 years, they have actively participated in the creation or restoration of these costumes in accordance with the rules of yesteryear.

The museum takes you to 3 exhibition rooms, on the first floor, where traditional costumes from the 18th and 19th centuries are presented in windows. The second floor is reserved for the sewing workshop of the Conservatoire du Costume Comtadin. This museum offers you a real step in the old days!
The exhibition
'Blue and Brown Fashion'
Each year, these volunteers show you all their costume creations and restorations in order to discover the work done all year round and to preserve these works from another time through an exhibition that is not to be missed under any circumstances!
From June 4 to 16, come and discover the meticulous work of the volunteers of the association le Conservatoire du Costume Comtadin, through the Blue and Brown Fashion exhibition, which highlights around thirty traditional period costumes, almost all authentic, dating from the 18th to the 20th century.
The costumes are classified by theme, and among these themes you will find the Second Empire, Romanticism, prints, the petty bourgeoisie, and many others.
This exhibition takes place at the Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs in Pernes-les-Fontaines, every day from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and admission is free.

Heritage Day
How can we talk about the Comtadin costume without talking about the Heritage Day, which has been held every 4 years since 1980?
For 2 days, the entire village takes a step into the past: the inhabitants, streets and squares live again like their ancestors. Costumes, carriages, artisans or old cars plunge you into a timeless atmosphere.
An extraordinary experience that takes you to a completely different era for a weekend!
