Monuments in Monteux, reference of our history

Strolling through the old village, you can see that Monteux has preserved from its medieval past a dense urban fabric and narrow alleys where its heritage is nestled.

In this intramural district, which follows a curve parallel to the former ramparts, you will find: our fountains, the Clementine Tower, the Chapel of the Black Penitents, the remains of the ramparts, the Avignon Gate, the Porte Neuve, the Place de la Glacière, Place de Saint Gens, the Church of Notre Dame de Nazareth and the Town Hall.

Extramuros, the Notre Dame des Grâces Chapel, the Park and the Water Tower Room and the Statue of Saint Gens.

A few plates tell the history of the main Montilian monuments and will guide you in your stroll.

The ancient center has at least fourteen fountains and the water for most of them comes from the springs in the Saint-Raphaël district and arrives in the city through a network of pipes that are centuries old.
